When choosing the correct air valve for an application the first thing the specifier needs to think about is what am I looking for the air valve to do?
The goal is to protect the pipeline and make it as efficient as possible
- Release Large amounts of air? (Air / Vacuum Valve)
- Small Amounts of air? (Air Release Valve)
- Both? (Combination Valve)
Things required to know size air valves:
- Pipe Size, Type and Wall Thickness
- Pipeline flow ie GPM, MGD or CFS
- Operating pressure
- Application ie. pump discharge, distribution system (slope of the installed pipe), etc (profile drawing are very helpful)
- Is the media “Clean” or “Dirty”
See below sample pipeline profile
